couples therapy
Couples therapy provides a space to slow down, understand what is happening in your relationship, and begin to rebuild connection when things feel strained, distant, or stuck.
Couples seek therapy for many reasons. Some are navigating communication difficulties or recurring conflicts that feel hard to resolve. Others are experiencing emotional or physical disconnection, or challenges with intimacy. Many couples come in to work through parenting disagreements, differences in division of responsibilities or emotional and mental labor, or stress related to extended family or in-laws. Others are facing major life decisions such as having children, relocation, career changes, or considering separation. Some also seek therapy proactively for support during transitions or as a relationship “check-in.”
We will begin with a comprehensive assessment process, including joint and individual interviews and questionnaires when appropriate. This helps us understand your relationship’s strengths, patterns, and the challenges that tend to repeat between you. From there, we will develop a personalized treatment plan based on your goals as a couple, so our work stays focused on what matters most to you.
Using evidence-based approaches informed by the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we will work to strengthen communication, reduce cycles of conflict, and increase understanding between partners. You will build practical skills for listening, expressing needs more clearly, and making decisions together, while also deepening insight into each other’s internal worlds.
The goal of couples therapy is not simply to solve problems, but to help you build a relationship that feels more connected, secure, resilient, and fulfilling.
